At Rotary Club of Ikeja GRA, we are committed to creating lasting impact through sustainable service projects that transform lives and strengthen communities.
Every month, our Club delivers at least one project aligned with Rotary International’s Seven Areas of Focus: Peacebuilding and Conflict Prevention, Disease Prevention and Treatment, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, Maternal and Child Health, Basic Education and Literacy, Community Economic Development, and Environmental Sustainability.
Delivering Sustainable Community Impact
Our Club has successfully implemented numerous high-impact projects, including:
- Provision of solar-powered boreholes and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities in schools and communities.
- Construction and equipping of a 50-bed Caregivers’ Home at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
- Healthcare outreach programmes providing free medical services, medications, eye screening, health education, and maternal health support.
- Renovation of schools, libraries, ICT laboratories, staff rooms, and sanitation facilities.
- Environmental conservation initiatives including tree planting, recycling campaigns, and community sanitation projects.
- Support for women and girls through menstrual hygiene education and distribution of sanitary products.
- Polio eradication awareness and immunization advocacy programmes.
Recent projects have included the provision of solar-powered WASH facilities at Army Children School, renovation of educational facilities, donations of learning materials through our School in a Bag programme, healthcare outreach to over 1,000 beneficiaries, and numerous environmental sustainability initiatives.

Our Signature Project: School in a Bag
Equipping Young Minds Today, Empowering Future Leaders Tomorrow.
One of the Rotary Club of Ikeja GRA’s most impactful and enduring initiatives is our annual School in a Bag project. Through this signature programme, we provide school bags, textbooks, exercise books, writing materials, and other essential learning resources to underprivileged pupils, helping to improve access to quality education and support academic success.
What makes this project particularly special is its sustainability and continuity. Since its inception, every President of the Rotary Club of Ikeja GRA has embraced and delivered the School in a Bag project as part of their service year, ensuring that its impact continues to reach new generations of schoolchildren.
Over the years, thousands of pupils have benefited from this initiative, receiving the tools and encouragement needed to pursue their education with confidence and dignity.
As a flagship project of our Club, School in a Bag reflects our unwavering commitment to Basic Education and Literacy, one of Rotary International’s Areas of Focus. It is a legacy project that has become part of the identity of Rotary Club of Ikeja GRA and will continue to be sustained and expanded by future Club leaders as we create lasting impact in our communities.
Solar-Powered Borehole and WASH Project – Army Children School, Ikeja
Bringing Clean Water Closer to Every Child, One Community at a Time.
Access to clean water is fundamental to health, education, and dignity. For many years, pupils and staff of Army Children School faced significant challenges due to the lack of a reliable water supply. From the school’s inception, children had to walk considerable distances from their classrooms to fetch water for drinking, sanitation, and use in the school’s bathroom facilities.
In response to this critical need, the Rotary Club of Ikeja GRA, under the leadership of the Irresistible President, Rotarian Chinedum Amachi, implemented a Solar-Powered Borehole and Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) Project as part of the 2024–2025 Rotary International theme, The Magic of Rotary, sponsored in part by District Grant ( Rotary Foundation)
Our Irresistible District Governor, Dr. Oluwole Kukoyi, His Wife and Core team and Entourage from District 9111 Commissioned this project on May 15, 2025, the project provides a sustainable source of clean water powered by renewable energy, significantly improving access to safe drinking water and sanitation facilities for pupils, teachers, and the wider school community.
This intervention has enhanced the learning environment, improved hygiene standards, reduced the burden on children who previously spent valuable time fetching water, and contributed to better health and educational outcomes.
The Solar-Powered Borehole and WASH Project stands as a testament to Rotary Club of Ikeja GRA’s commitment to creating lasting impact through sustainable community development and service above self.
Rotary Club of Ikeja GRA donated a fully furnished 36-bed caregiver quarter (Caregivers’ Quarters) to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).
The facility was officially commissioned during Hope Year, by the District Governor Rotarian Ifenyinwa Ijezie and our Hope Year President, Engr. Adeyemi Adesina to provide relatives of hospitalized patients a decent, affordable place to rest, shower, and sleep, preventing them from sleeping in cars or on bare hospital floors.
The project cost an estimated ₦65 million and features separate male and female wings. According to LASUTH management, this addition makes LASUTH the first public hospital in Lagos State with dedicated accommodation for patients’ relatives
Leveraging Rotary Grants for Greater Impact
Beyond our Club-funded projects, we actively pursue Rotary District Grants and Global Grants to implement larger and more sustainable interventions.
Through the support of The Rotary Foundation and strategic partnerships, Rotary clubs around the world are able to mobilize resources for transformative projects that address critical community needs. These grants enable us to expand our reach and deliver projects of significant scale and long-term value.
