The Rotary Club of Ikeja GRA was chartered on 17th October 2012 at The Jubilee Hall of Lagos Country Club, Ikeja, with 32 charter members inducted by the 2012/2013 District Governor, PDG Dr. Kamoru Omotosho. Our Charter President, Rotarian Adewale Osomo Esq., led the Club through its inaugural year , fittingly designated the PEACE President, in line with that year’s Rotary theme.
The foundation of our Club owes much to Oba PAG Segun Ogunye, The Ojotumoro of Abigi, and PAG Igwe Chuks Ahmed , both distinguished members of the Rotary Club of Akowonjo, our father Club, whose vision and guidance gave birth to what has become one of District 9110’s most outstanding Clubs.
From our earliest years, we launched landmark projects including the celebrated “School in a Bag Project,” executed in partnership with The Rotary Club of Yeovil and the Piers Simon Appeal Foundation, United Kingdom. Our weekly fellowship meeting venue moved in September 2014 to the Radisson Hotel, Ikeja a fitting home for a Club of our stature. However, we have moved our fellowship venue to Golfview Hotel, still in Ikeja GRA, where we continue to meet to this day.
In the 2015/2016 Rotary Year, under the leadership of Rotarian Bukola Bakare, our first female President and the current District Governor of Rotary District 9111, the Club achieved a quantum leap, introducing the “A Project Per Month” program and earning the prestigious recognition of an
EXCELLENT CLUB by Rotary International District 9110. That status, hard-earned and well-deserved, defines who we are.
Through every successive President , from the Pace Setter to the Inspiration, the Change Maker to the Imaginative, to the Hope, Magic of Rotary and United For Good, Rotary Club of Ikeja GRA has remained committed to service excellence, fellowship, and community impact.
Today, under the leadership of President Rotarian Abimbola Isafiade, we carry that legacy forward with renewed energy under the 2026/2027 theme: Create Lasting Impact.
